Dear audience members and festival visitors,
Due to illness of Jana Šrejma Kačírková, the lead performer in the role of Emília Marta, we regretfully must cancel the festival performance of the opera The Makropulos Affair on November 8, 2026. Unfortunately, it was not possible to find a replacement for this demanding title role in such a complex musical and theatrical production.
It is essential for us to provide you with an alternative festival program to replace this sold-out performance. The only possible solution is a concert performance of Janáček’s Katya Kabanova featuring an outstanding cast of soloists, with Kateřina Kněžíková in the role of Katya, conducted by Ondrej Olos with the Janáček Opera Orchestra of the National Theater in Brno, which, I believe, will be a worthy replacement and a wonderful artistic experience for you. The tickets you purchased for The Makropulos Affair for November 8 remain valid for this alternative performance. Unfortunately, due to preparations for another opera production, we are unable to stage our production of Katya Kabanova in its full theatrical form.
Unused tickets may be returned at the NdB box office, electronically via email to obchodni@ndbrno.cz, or exchanged for available tickets to the performance of The Makropulos Affair on November 15, 2026.
Please send us your refund requests no later than November 30, 2026.
Thank you for your understanding.
