A new stage, an old legend — Antonín Dvořák’s Rusalka in a new production by the National Theatre Brno (Janáček Opera) offers a poetic yet deeply emotional take on the well-known story of the water nymph who longs to become human. The production is directed by David Radok, with Marko Ivanović conducting; Linda Ballová takes the title role of Rusalka. The staging draws on the original scenographic concept by Lars-Åke Thessman (Gothenburg Opera) and combines a multilayered visual design with strong dramatic performances.
