Exactly one year from now, Brno will once again immerse itself in the world of Leoš Janáček. The Janáček Brno 2026 festival will open its jubilee 10th edition, taking us back to the roots.
The motto of the upcoming edition, ROOTS, reminds us that what we grow from shapes us for life – just as Leoš Janáček was shaped by his Moravian and Wallachian inspirations, language, music, and the people around him.
The main programme theme of the festival will be a unique cycle of all nine Janáček operas, eight of which will be performed by Janáček Opera NdB. This exceptional series will feature the Brno ensemble alongside distinguished international conductors, orchestras, and soloists.
A new visual identity of the festival is also in preparation, created in collaboration with illustrator Michal Bačák, recipient of the Illustrator of the Year award (Czech Grand Design 2024) and EDIDA 2025, and graphic designer Žaneta Kögler.
The complete programme of the jubilee edition, together with the new festival design, will be revealed on 31 October 2025. Until then, you can look forward to a small preview of what has been created here – and what, after years, will once again return to Brno’s stages.
If you don’t want to wait a whole year, join us at one of our preview events – janacek-brno.cz/en/preview2026/.
