The Janáček Brno Festival will present one of the most anticipated operatic events of autumn 2025: Leoš Janáček’s Jenůfa, featuring Kateřina Kněžíková in the title role – as a preview event for Janáček Brno 2026.
Kateřina Kněžíková is one of the most prominent Czech sopranos of her generation, a soloist of the National Theatre in Prague and a frequent guest of major European opera houses (including Teatro Real, Glyndebourne, and Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie). She won the BBC Music Magazine Award 2022 for her acclaimed album Phidylé and has appeared at the BBC Proms and the Smetana’s Litomyšl Festival, among others. Her performance as Jenůfa in Prague was widely praised – and Brno will be no exception.
Jana Hrochová will debut in the role of the Kostelnička, Aleš Briscein will sing Laca, and the performance will be conducted by Robert Kružík.
