Jazz concert

At the Janáček Brno festival, Štěpán Holík & BOSSA BAND present Brazilian bossa nova – a genre where Brazilian tradition and jazz resonate alongside influences of Romanticism and Impressionism, as seen in the work of Antônio Carlos Jobim. The Brno-based ensemble builds on this connection by seamlessly weaving bossa nova with the music of Leoš Janáček, whose perception of harmony and melody opens up a surprisingly natural space for dialogue with the Brazilian musical language. One of the central inspirations for this performance is Janáček’s Sonata for Violin and Piano.
