Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) composed a total of twelve Evening Songs probably in the vicinity of the Moravian Duets in 1876. They are based on poems from Vítězslav Hálek’s collection of the same name and formally return to the songs of Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann. Later he made extensive revisions of them and in 1880 and 1883 published them with various publishers in various numbers.
